What a Week
of literary excitement.
The 11th in-person Hobart Festival of Women Writers took place on the weekend of June 7, 8 &9th. We had a wonderfully rich time in Hobart, New York, the Book Village of the Catskills.

We offered three days of writing craft workshops, public readings, two panel discussions, book sales, and lots of conversation and camaraderie. It was indeed our best Festival ever.

Cheryl Clarke, founder and organizer of Hobart Festival of Women Writers, was recently celebrated along with Alexis DeVeaux, also a founding Festival writer at The Schomburg Library in New York City, for their significant literary contributions to Black, Queer, Feminist literary history and culture. The Pleasure of Rebellion: celebrating the life and work of Black lesbian and feminist writers, Cheryl Clarke and Alexis DeVeaux opened on June 11th with a discussion moderated by Steven G. Fullwood with Alexis Pauline Gumbs, archivist and scholar, and Briona Simone Jones, PhD. The event is streaming at The Pleasure of Rebellion.

Our participating writers have achieved significant success this year and in previous Festivals. Many of their works have been published in NOW online magazine, with several recently published pieces featured here first. We couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.
